Neurotoxins (Botox & Dysport)

Botulinum Toxin- one of the most common medical spa procedures. At our med spa, we offer 2 types of Botulinum Toxin: Botox and Dysport. Botulinum toxin works temporarily to paralyze the muscles to decrease fine wrinkles in the face. The toxin acts by binding to a protein at the neuromuscular junction to inactivate the muscle. This typically lasts approximately 3-4 months as this is the time it takes for the nerve terminal to regenerate. While the muscle is temporarily paralyzed, the overlying skin is tightened above it, thereby lessening the appearance of wrinkles. This procedure is currently FDA approved for the glabellar (between eyes). However, it is often used for other areas on the face, and other areas of the body.
